Last year a large contingent from Cawthorne Young Farmers Club travelled to Hexham in Northumberland for the North of England competitions weekend.  Members were representing Yorkshire in both Pantomime and Public Speaking competitions and had some wonderful results.

 

The Pantomime (Jack and the Beanstalk) was placed a fantastic third, behind entries from Northumberland and Cumbria with the Club’s Christina Molyneux being awarded the “Best Junior Actress” award for her performance.

 

Two Public Speaking teams were also triumphant with the Junior team (Frances Griffiths, Christina Molyneux and Kate Williams) coming first in their section and the Intermediate team (Vickie Norman, George Elliott and Ruth Elliott) being placed second in their category.  Both these teams will now go to the National Finals to be held later this year.

 

Ex Club Chairman Rob Battye commented that the Cawthorne members had worked extremely hard and could be very proud of their successes over the weekend.  This will be the first time the Club has managed to get two teams through to the National Public Speaking Finals which is a fantastic achievement.
